# 1 San Diego Monster Bash / WCKD Village

Gaslamp Quarter / East Village | $30 – $90 | October 27th & 28th | 21+ | MB-website | WCKD-website

Monster Bash is San Diego’s largest outdoor block party, and with a $2500 grand prize costume contest, haunted hookah, a body glitter bar, and four stages of non-stop live music, it’s not hard to see why.

The bash is getting “wicked” this year, which means they’ll have more haunting experiences than the usual, fortune tellers, crypts, Wicked Woodlands, and even a demented circus for the extremely brave at 2018’s WCKD.

This block party takes over many city blocks in the East Village and with VIP ticket needed to enter, the party feels very exclusive and set apart from the rest of the downtown chaos. Each year, folks without tickets can hear and see the fun festivities happening and wish they could be inside. Buy your ticket early and avoid being one of these people!

# 2 The Scream Zone

Del Mar | $17 – $85 | September 28th – October 31st (Select Nights) | 10+ (PG) | website

The event takes place on the Del Mar Fairgrounds and its haunted areas include the House of Horror, the Haunted Hayride, and Karnevil (a terrifying trailer park of clowns, freaks, and an ultimate death spiral).

If all of this is too much for you, scaredy cats can stay in the Scream Zone compound for free where there is still much to see, such as photo booths, food vendors, and a Spirit Lounge bar where you can drink your fears away.

Insider’s Tip: Check out the website for Special Events, such as Electronic Fridays (a night of bone-chilling EDM beats), Out at the Scream Zone (the night when Scream Queens take the stage), and Spook-Easy (a speakeasy style night complete with swanky hand-mixed cocktails).

You can opt for your own private VIP lounge at this event, and you and your friends can party the night away in a space away from the Crown Room.

Insider’s Tip: The event is strictly 21 and over, but for $100, kids ages 4-12 can attend their own Hotel Transylvania Party with costumes, trick-or-treating, dinner and more.
