How To Plan Your Holiday Event With Ease

The Holiday Season is here, and we love getting in the spirit with our clients in helping them plan their corporate holiday events and friend and family gatherings.  While typical holiday parties are usually held at one venue, So Diego Tours focuses on providing unique parties that not only include delicious food and drink, but also include historic insight to San Diego on a tour to multiple locations, as well as interactive holiday-focused activities.

Here is a list of some of our favorite end-of-the-year celebration ideas your guests are sure to rave about!

Holiday Lights and Spiced Cocktails w/Dinner:

Holidays - So Diego

So Diego Tours will pick guests up at a specific location, and bring them to one of the popular holiday light displays in a local neighborhood.  In the bus, guests will be offered mulled wine or hot chocolate. Once at the neighborhood, walk with your guide along the street as you marvel at the festive displays at each house.  After the lights tour, head to a nearby restaurant for a tasty holiday cocktail and 2 course dinner.  A dessert table will open up after dinner for extra time to chat and enjoy sweet conversation.

Gingerbread Cookie-Decorating Contest, Dinner and a Walking Tour:

This experience takes place at a restaurant in the Gaslamp Quarter, Old Town or La Jolla, and is held at one venue. Once guests arrive at the venue, guests will be greeting with a choice of wine or beer, and invited to participate in the cookie-decorating contest. While some guests decorate cookies, others will be invited to join a tour guide for a brief historic walk around the neighborhood. Guests will be fascinated at what they learn in this small part of their hometown.  Dinner will be offered in a buffet style, or a limited menu for a plated dinner option.

Julian Day Trip with Lunch, Apple Pie, and Mine Tour:

Holidays - So Diego

Allow us to sweep you and your group away to the adorable mountain town of Julian for a fun getaway. You will enjoy a brief historic walking tour of the area, lunch at a local restaurant, and a slice of their famous apple pie a la mode, of course. After lunch, we will take you to the mine that was the reason this town was built in the first place. You’ll get a chance to explore the mine, and learn what life was like for the miners and pioneers in the 19th century.

Holiday in the Gaslamp Tour:

Holidays - So Diego

“Warm up with whisky!”

Walk around this vibrant historic district as you learn about the early days of San Diego. Stop at a restaurant that serves the best Irish Coffees in the Gaslamp, enjoy a 2-course meal at a different popular restaurant, and end the night at a beautifully-decorated hotel with a holiday-appropriate hot totty for pictures and a night cap.

Wine, Art and Dinner in the Gaslamp:

Holidays - So Diego

Allow us to create a lasting impression on your group by planning a unique wine tasting event in the Gaslamp. Guests will walk to 2 art galleries where they will be greeted by a curator who will introduce them to the gallery and talk about a few of the specific pieces exhibited. Guests will hear about the artists and his/her unique techniques. They will also learn about the flavors of wine being poured. The wine is all certified organic from small vineyards from around the world. After the gallery, guests are walked to a restaurant for a 2-course dinner.  On their walk, they will learn about this seedy past of the Gaslamp, exploring some of the historic buildings and what life was like at the turn of the 19th century.

Little Italy Wine, Charcuterie, and Italian Feast:

Holidays - So Diego

Explore the urban neighborhood of Little Italy as we guide guests to one of our favorite wine bars for a private wine tasting paired with a gorgeous charcuterie board full of cheese, meats, dried fruits, and nuts.  After wine, guests will be guided through the streets of Little Italy, and get some insight to the history of when the neighborhood was a bustling fishing port made up of all Italian immigrants. The next stop is a local restaurant where guests will have a family-style meal of fresh made pasta, wood-fired pizzas, fresh salads, appetizers, and more wine!

The holidays are not just a time of tradition, but it’s the perfect time to be grateful for the time you spent during the year with your family, coworkers and friends.  So Diego Tours believes in the importance of getting people together, and we are open to working with different types of groups and budgets for your holiday entertaining needs.  For Holiday Party options that are priced at $60 or less, please consider one of our walking brewery tours in Little Italy, Gaslamp, North Park or Ocean Beach, or a signature food tour in Old Town and in the Gaslamp Quarter.  We are here to be your holiday helper help, and would love to host your group this season!
